The office of Mountain Real Estate Servies is located at 801 A Highway 190, in the Sequoia National Forest at the 4,800 ft. elevation.
People are drawn here for many reasons. Some come to relax and enjoy our four seasons and all that nature has to offer: the Giant Sequoias without the crowds, the cool waters of the Tule River stocked with rainbow trout, native Golden and Brown trout, endless miles of hiking and biking trails that take you right through groves of Giant Sequoias. Bring the family to enjoy our awesome campgrounds and fishing, or sit by a stream and observe nature doing what it does best - naturally! Or, you may want to enjoy a drive through Sequoia Crest and view the big trees from the comfort of your car.
For more adventure, we have groomed snowmobile trails and cross country skiing in the winter, and challenging mountain bike trails in the summer. There is also world renowned rock climbing in Ponderosa and the magestic Dome Rock for unlimited vistas and stargazing. For an extreme adventure, experienced kayakers brave the fast waters and steep drops of the Class V Tule River below Pierpoint Springs along Highway 190. Or, take the 1.5 mile hike to the Jordan Peak Lookout Tower that climbs to the 9,115 foot elevation for a "top of the world" experience. For a hike with death defying drops and non-stop breathtaking views, check out The Needles. The tower burned last year but the hike is still fantastic!
Why buy a cabin or land in this area?
We are a small village with the will to stay that way. A major attraction is that there can never be any more development, except on existing lots, thus creating exclusivity. This will always keep the area from growing into a "giant resort" that so many other mountain communities have become.
The Camp Nelson/Pierpoint Springs elevation is about 4,800 feet, where snow is frequent in winter months. All road are well maintained year-round. Temperatures seldom exceed 90 degrees (F) in the summer and seldom drop below 20 degrees in the winter.
The community of Camp Nelson is located 50 minutes east of Porterville, California on Highway 190 in eastern Tulare County. The community was established in 1886 and has operated continually since that time as a destination resort. It is now incorporated into the new Giant Sequoia National Monument and will benefit from federal promotional budgets.
Camp Nelson and adjacent villages have 1,723 parcels of land, 900+ homes and 300+ permanenet residents. Five hundred of those homes and 180 residents are in Camp Nelson itself. At any given time, the population may be 3-5,000 because of vacation home and campground use.
There are four local campgrounds. The area's aesthetics and popular trail system keep the campgrounds well used in summer months.
